Player One Coffee Chocolate Hazelnut Blend Review

Hello everyone and welcome back to Tick n’ Sip! This is the first review I’ve written in 2021. I am already having a hard time saying that. It feels like I just blinked and it went from 2019 to 2021. What a year 2020 was. Hopefully 2021 will be a better year for everyone. With that being said, I am super excited to be reviewing another blend of coffee from the Player One coffee brand. As soon as I got a whiff of this coffee after opening the bag, I could tell I was in for a treat!

From first impression, this coffee has a prominent chocolatey nuttiness akin to that of Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread which happens to be one of my absolute favorite things in existence. It still has that underlying aroma of coffee but it has that wonderful smell that brings back memories. Despite being a light roast coffee, it has a rich hazelnut mocha quality. For being a 12 ounce bag of coffee, it comes packed with beans. The picture below was after using beans for a full pot of coffee, but it didn’t take much out of it at all. Typically with Player One coffee bags, I can get around a full 10 pots of coffee or more depending on how strong I want my coffee. That is way more than I can usually get out of most bagged coffees from my local grocery store. When in use in my espresso machine, I can extend the amount of coffee I get out of each bag even further.

Upon first tasting this coffee, I was hit by its bright and mellow flavors from the light roast. To many, a light roast may be of great benefit if you aren’t a fan of darker coffees. They tend to be less bitter and they even provide an added boost of caffeine compared to darker roasts. If you’re extra groggy and really need that pick-me-up, this is a great coffee for you. The flavor was not overly bitter or acidic and it still retained that lovely chocolate hazelnut goodness on the back of my palette with each and every sip. I actually found that after I brewed the coffee in my drip pot, its Nutella qualities mellowed and improved in its overall hazelnut flavor. To give an honest review of this coffee, I did not add any sugar so I am only tasting the pure essence of the roast. From first smelling the coffee, I feared it would taste too much like dark chocolate, which was listed in one of Player One’s cupping notes. Typically, your average chocolate hazelnut spread is smooth, chocolatey, nutty, and creamy. I actually found this coffee blend to have the perfect balance of nuttiness to chocolate flavor without either flavor overpowering the other. This coffee is truly joy in a cup!

So far, none of the Player One coffees that I have reviewed have disappointed me. They are all very fresh and aromatic and they all have a great taste that doesn’t disappoint cup after cup. I look forward to reviewing the rest of the coffees in my Player One haul over the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in purchasing a bag of Player One Chocolate Hazelnut Coffee or any of their other blends they have to offer, I will provide links to their websites as well as a 5% discount code off your order.

As always, thank you so much for reading and for your continued support!
