Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN Review
Hello everyone and welcome back to Tick n' Sip! In today's article, I have a very special piece that I am so excited to share with you all. Without delay, here is the Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN.
The Rolex Submariner 116610LN is one of the most difficult Rolex watches to find available for sale either at a Rolex Authorized Dealer due to lack of availability as well as in the grey market with prices that are well above retail. For many collectors, this watch is considered a staple to have in one's collection. The Rolex Submariner is one of the most iconic watches in history from one of the most well known and respected watchmakers in the industry. Since 2010, the Rolex Submariner model 116610LN has been Rolex's current iteration of the Submariner Date that is also available in a wide variety of metals ranging from 904L stainless steel to two-tone and full gold.
The Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN if made of Rolex's 904L Stainless Steel and features a Ceramic Cerachrom 120-Click Bezel with PVD platinum inlays, a Maxi Dial with blue Chromalight Luminescence and white gold hour markers and hands. The case measures 40mm in diameter and is an extremely comfortable size on the wrist. This iteration of the Submariner Date features larger lugs in what is known as a Super Case, allowing the watch to wear with a more modern size, but allowing it to retain its vintage specifications.
Inside the Rolex Submariner Date there lies a workhorse Caliber 3135 In-house COSC + Superlative Chronometer certified movement with a 48-hour power reserve and a guaranteed accuracy of +2 to -2 seconds per day. The movement also includes an antimagnetic Blue Parachrom hairspring that also has the benefit of being very shock-resistant and features an instant date change mechanism when the hour hand hits 12 am.
Rolex's Submariner Date features Rolex's signature Oyster case and bracelet that are beautifully finished and are very solid in the hand and after testing, it is guaranteed to be water-resistant to 300 meters thanks to its Triplock crown waterproofing system. The face of the dial is protected by a gorgeous sapphire crystal with Rolex's signature cyclops lens magnifier attached over the date window. The bracelet has no rattle and is finished in a manner that won't pinch or pull hair. The bracelet also features Rolex's Glidelock Clasp that allows for 20 mm of adjustment, intended for wearing the watch over a diving suit, but it also works wonders in the comfort department for when your wrist swells and contracts throughout the day.
Overall, the Rolex Submariner Date is a gorgeous and very versatile piece. You could get away with wearing it in just about any situation whether it be formal or casual. If you can get your hands on this watch, there is no question on whether or not you should buy it. Another big bonus of this watch is that it is built like a tank and I could see it lasting for many generations. The only downside to this watch is, unfortunately, its availability. This particular model has waitlists that range from somewhere around a year to a timespan of several years and that is if you are lucky enough to be chosen to purchase one. However, if you are unwilling to wait, there are many reliable secondhand dealers that if you are looking in the right places, you may find one at a good price.
The Rolex Submariner Date 116610LN retails for $8,950 and this particular model can be had for $9,250 with box and papers at The Last Wind-Up in Bozeman, Montana. I will also provide a link below where you can purchase this piece directly from their website.I would like to say a huge thank you to The Last Wind-Up for letting me stop by and review their pieces. The owner, Dave is very knowledgable and he or any of his staff members would be more than happy to show you around their store and guide you through their inventory of pieces.
Thank you all so much for reading and your continued support!
