Tudor Black Bay Hands-On First Impressions
Hello everyone and welcome back to Tick n’ Sip.
Recently, I had the privilege of being able to spend time with the Tudor Black Bay and I must say that it is a gorgeous watch. From a first glance, the watch catches your eye with it’s iconic design, resembling something of a vintage Tudor Submariner with the size of a more modern timepiece. The dial of the Black Bay is a real highlight of the watch with its black sandblasted finish and its beautiful rose gold snowflake hands with a faux patina. The hour markers are intricately crafted to match in the hands in color. The look of this watch truly resembles an elegant vintage timepiece. The brushing and finishing of the watch and the bracelet are on par with the quality of a Rolex for a fraction of the price. On the wrist, the Black Bay had a great wrist presence. The watch had a significant amount of heft that reassured the wearer that the piece is indeed a luxury watch, while not being so heavy that it would be uncomfortable to wear. The bracelet had a well made milled clasp that also featured a secure flip-lock closure system also proved very comfortable to wear on the wrist. While the Tudor Black Bay 58 may be a better option for those with average or smaller sized wrists, the larger Black Bay fit my wrist quite well. The watch itself wears larger than its 41 mm measurement, but it never felt too large or too thick on my wrist.
With this truly being my first experience with a luxury watch, my experience with this watch was nothing like I have experienced before and my time with the Black Bay will be something that I will never forget. Everything about this watch says luxury. There is something to be said about the quality and craftsmanship of the watch. When I unscrewed the crown and wound up the watch for the very first time, the winding of the movement was smooth, so much so that there was almost no feeling of winding which was something that I became accustomed to from owning several mechanical watches before. The action of the bezel is unparalleled. Every individual click can be felt and heard as the bezel is turned and it was truly a joy to operate.
Overall, the Tudor Black Bay was a pleasure to wear. I look forward to hopefully purchasing one soon. I most definitely see this watch as something that will last for many generations. Thank you for reading!
